USA drops a spot in FIFA rankings, Mexico sticks at 15

When the U.S. men's national team faces Costa Rica and Mexico later this month, it will do so as the 33rd-ranked team in the world.

Despite not playing a match since the February rankings were released, the USA fell one spot from 32 in the March edition, which were released Thursday. Mexico held at No. 15 overall, while Los Ticos, who will travel to Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., for the USA's next match in the CONCACAF hexagonal on March 22, are 53rd in the world.

Spain maintained its position at No. 1, and the top 10 teams remained unchanged, although Portugal technically dropped to seventh after being tied with Colombia for sixth last month. Following Spain are Germany, Argentina, England, Italy, Colombia, Portugal, Netherlands, Croatia and Russia, respectively. 2014 FIFA World Cup host Brazil came in at 18 for the fourth consecutive month.
